Since Quicktime will no longer import MIDI files, this will have to do and it does fine. Not willing to pay for other apps that don’t make it clear that you can import a midi file into.

This app needs a ton of work. There seems to be no way to stop and restart the playback - pause and stop had exactly the same effect, and didn’t actually stop the output, just held the notes currently being played. The interface looks like something from Windows 3.1.

Simple and good enough, with 5 different gm instruments.

Running this app on my MacPro, Mac OS X 10.11.1. Works like a charm. Not a lot of polish to the interface, but works great as a MIDI player. It lets you change things like tempo and instrument assignments per track. Also lets you see the MIDI commands if you want. Haven’t tried it yet on MusicXML files. Worth every penny!
